It's that time of year again, the fiestas patrias. This is the time of year that the whole country is covered in the national flag, and people eat 4 cows each over a 4 day period. In order to celebrate in an authentic way we went to a couple of fondas, this one in La Reina seemed geared towards horse type people. All the stalls were manned by sour faced men in hats. We watched two men on horses chase a cow in a circle. The odds seemed slightly stacked in favour of the two men and two horses, rather than the cow.
The Diminutive One celebrated the love of all things Chilean by devouring meat. I did begin to worry about the welfare of the animals in the petting zoo.

Fish Lunch in Algarobo
Parcela, Curacavi
For the start of the 5 day stretch of serious food and drink consumption that the Chileans like to call the fiestas patrias, we were invited out to a parcela near Curacavi. The house nestled in a corner of the plot of land, with almond and lemon trees all around. It was a perfect way to kick off the holiday period. Cheers Tom, Daniela, Nico, Thom and Maria.

Wolves v Morecambe
Wolves v Morecambe in the League Cup looks like a bit of a no brainer. But, with two cousins, one a Wolves fan and the other part of the Morecambe hardcore, and a Morecambe bred Baggies supporting father, it was too good an opportunity to miss. Also, high on the list of The diminutive One's list of "Things to do in England" (just below "eat Yorkshire Pudding" and "visit Bodyshop") was "Visit Wolverhampton".
In true fairy tale fashion Morecambe turned over Wolves good and propper, running out 1-3 winners, leaving the slightly bemused Chilean to listen to renditions of "Bring me Sunshine" and watch as the Morecambe barmy army got so excited that they waived their shoes in the air, presumably because they just don't care.
